New Additions to our Family

No Isabelle hasn't arrived yet but hopefully she will be born over the weekend as her mum is going into hospital on Sunday morning to be induced.  But we do have some new additions to our family today.

2 Years ago 6 lovely ladies came to live with us and have given us a wonderful supply of eggs ever since.  Every now and again one of them gets a little clucky (broody) but our latest broody girl was worse than usual so in the absence of a "husband" we purchased her some fertile eggs to nest on.

3 weeks later and we have some baby chicks born this afternoon

So far we have 3 new additions - They are so cute !!

What do you have planned this weekend?  I have the grand babies coming to stay whilst their little sister is being born. So not much sewing will get done - They like to help in the kitchen so we might try to get some baking done and maybe bottle some of the apricots which are starting to ripen on our trees.

Do you like my new scented flower buds that I just bought?  I wish you could smell them - They smell divine.

And this gorgeous scented ceramic rose diffuser - I have never seen them before.

It is beautifully formed isn't it?

Oh .... I almost forgot to tell you that I have a new little friend coming to stay with me - I will tell you more once she arrives early next week.  So wherever you are have a wonderul weekend and I hope you get time to do what you love.  I am hoping to make a start on this new stitchery - Fingers crossed anyway.

Babies + A Few finishes.........

Do you remember March 2009 when Maddie was born at 32 weeks?  Look at her now.  Here she is with her "Mimah" doll I made her for christmas.  She is going to have a baby sister born any day.

I have had a few finishes this week - This candle mat made with some delicious "Fresh Pallette"

A Cushion made with some Broderie Anglaise lace and "Quite Contrary" Fabric

And a table topper from some dreamy Robyn Pandolph - I never tire of this fabric.

So as you can see I have been busy-  5 finishes so far for January - I know I won't be able to keep up this pace - Now onto those pesky UFO's.

Happy Australia Day everyone.

We Have A Winner and A Reminder

Thankyou all so very much for all of the lovely suggestions for a name for this quilt.  I have written a number of them down for future use.  It was very hard to choose just one but here is what Deb had to say :-

Hi Fee, its absolutely beautiful. I think you should call the Quilt " Fee's True Love" because of your love for your home, family and sewing.

hugs Deb

Her comment really touched me because all of those things are important to me and in particular the making of my house into a home and the love of my family so it just fits really.  So she now has a name

The weekend is coming to an end .......

Even though it has been a busy weekend it has been a lovely one - The rain has stopped here in the South of Tassie for now.  It is forecast to start up again later in the week but right now the sun is shining.  I still can't believe all of the goings on in the world this past week.  It really makes you appreciate what you have and want to give as much as you can to those that have lost everything.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those people who are making sewing kits, have given money or have bid on any of the 150+ auctions going on in blog land - Every little bit will help.

My oldest daughter (Sammy)  who is almost ready to have her 3rd child spent 2 days packing up toys and clothing from her two toddlers which was collected by "The Truck of Hope" to give - Everyone just wants to help - That is so wonderful and I am so very proud of her for sharing her children's things.

I spent the day out yesterday visiting garage sales and picking up supplies to send with my sewing kits.

Whilst I was out I popped into a local store called "Fragments".  They sell lots of vintage style doors, mantles, hinges, knobs etc......  Honestly it was just a delight to wander around all of the lovely bits which one day I hope to own (SIGH)....  But for now the mission was to buy new knobs for the lowboy and dressing table that I am currently painting for our bedroom.

These are the ones that came home with me - Both are made from cut glass and have brass bases.  I think they are going to look fantastic on my new furniture.  The dressing table needed 8 knobs (OUCH) but I had been saving for these for awhile so I just had to have them.  The handle for the wardrobe was the nicest one there and I had to take the shop sample as it was the only one - Lucky for me.

I have also spent some time over the weekend finishing off some new designs.

I have had lots of fun playing with hexies

This new design just needs the binding sewn down then it is all done.

And I have also been working on another French inspired project - I love both the French and shabby looks in my home - I think I might call it Shabby French Country Style - I wonder if there is already such a thing?

Have a wonderful week wherever you are,

Love and Hugs

Flea Market Finds + A Gift

Firstly I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all of the ladies that have made suggestions to name my quilt.  I love so many of them.  Hubby tells me that he will make the selection as it is just going to be way too difficult for me.

The last few weeks have been fabulous for Flea Market Finds.  Look at this gorgeous table that I found.  Already shabbied up and perfect for a blank space in our dining room.  And look at the lamp - Isn't it goreous?

The glass baubles on the stem are a little hard to photograph but they are pink glass.  I just added the shade and now I have an adorable lamp.  I paid just $20 for this lamp - What a bargain.

I am so in love with this table - Cost was just $50 and they delivered it free.

Yesterday we went to the markets again hunting for a bargain.  I found this vintage crystal cookie jar.  It is beautifully tarnished showing it's age.

There is just something about crystal sparkling in the sunlight.  Cost was just $8.

And this lovely little French (Yes made in France) Perfume Bottle - I couldn't leave it there for only $2

The gumtree girls are a close bunch.  We often have little swaps between ourselves and decided to have an apron swap recently.  Vikki made this delightful apron for me.  I just adore it.  It is so very me.

She has hand painted these gorgeous roses onto it - It will have to be kept for very best and can never get dirty - It is way too pretty for domestic duties.  Thanks so much Vikki XXXX

And lastly I got up this morning to the most wonderful news.  I had won the 500 follower give away over at Raspberry Rabbits.  I am awe struck by this quilt and Shell's generosity in giving it away.  I will treasure it forever Shell.

On the 12th January Shell is releasing her first block in her "12 of Hearts Free BOM" - Make sure you hop over there and take a look - She is a very talented gal.

Have a great week friends,

Love and Hugs,

What's In A Name Giveaway !!

I have a design book filled with ideas for quilts and other dreamy items just waiting for the right fabric to come along.  Fabrics really inspire me and when I started to collect some Rounneries from French General I had an idea about what I wanted to do with it.

I ordered in some linen to team with it and began to put together the design.

Most of my designs have wording and hearts or flowers so this one could be no different ............
It's verse reads :-

A Home is built of peace and love
And not of bricks and stone
A place where happiness lives
And memories are sewn

Little by little it came together - Each night I was a few flowers closer to a finish

Just 1 corner stitchery left to do

And then TA DAH !!  Finished - But now I am stuck......  What to call this french beauty?

So this is where you come in - I am running a competition to name this quilt.  The person who suggests the name that I choose to call this quilt will receive all of these goodies :-

My "Spring has Sprung" Block in the Springtime Quilt designed by the Gumtree Girls
Gorgeous little Vintage Note Book
5 X Fat Quarters from the Park Avenue Range
1 Skein Variegated Cottage Garden Threads - Pinks and Greens
And a cupcake filled with Fleur De Paris Goodness

So all you have to do is to leave a comment with your suggestion for a name for this quilt   -

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE

If you are a follower you will receive this gorgeous Ceramic Birdie.  Please mention in your  comment that you are a follower.

Giveaway closes Midnight AEST 25th January.  Winner will be chosen and announced on Australia Day 26th Janaury.

HUGS -  FEE XXXXX
